Arts and Crafts This Week: Hair Clip with Felt Two-tone Rose

I guess technically I could label this a sewing project because I sewed it up to keep the rose intact, sewed the green felt to the clip to help hold the rose in place, and sewed the rose to the green felt to attach it to the clip. However, this is still considered minimal sewing (at least by me).

I think after this I will try to figure out how to make pretty felt butterfly finger puppets that are not so much work. If it's too much work, it's going to cost more to buy them and people just are not going to shell out so much for a finger puppet.

In a few minutes, my birthday will be over. It rained...it was cold and dreary. I was not productive, apart from finally setting up my blog. A game I am playing on Facebook got very bloated and stressful. It was not a bad day, but I've had better days. I've had more productive days as well. Maybe next year it will be better.

Not sure what I was thinking when I made this...just barely fit when I made it...probably impossible to take off now that I've gained a few pounds...

Frankly cannot remember where I got the idea of 4 rectangles making a top...I think I used too stiff of a fabric...and I need better elastic...minor failure here...

Idea taken from a t-shirt refashion book I no longer have...was supposed to be a heart but that did not work out, so just made it a curvy V shape in front

I don't know where i got the idea...used the bottom half of a white shirt for this...it's not bad, but it's not good either.

So happy to make pants I can wear to work...stretch fabric, no buttons or zippers...I'm not there yet.

I decided to really get serious about learning to sew my own clothes and other items. This past summer was the start of it. I have since then ventured into things that I can sell in the future, such as fabric baby blocks. I still have a huge stash of fabrics to (experiment with) and use. Someday I will make something of all of them. In the meantime, here's what I've done so far.

First acceptable sewing/upcycling experiment (got the idea here)

I am not too fond of how this turned out, especially when I wear it (idea from here)

Not from a pattern or tutorial...this was pretty much "freehand"...minor failure

It really looked better on the dress form

Here I am on Blogspot, and hopefully I will be diligent enough to upload my photos regularly (like I do on my Facebook page).
